Charity friends group raise £600 at 1940s street party
The Beccles Friends of Cancer Research UK transported an audience of 100 back to the 1940s in their latest fundraiser.
With tables set out in rows like a street party and union jack bunting zig-zagged across the ceiling, the scene was set at Beccles Public Hall for a fun afternoon. Following refreshments, served by some dressed in 1940s clothing, the audience were treated to some classics by local singing duo Company D - a talented mother and daughter duo from Beccles who had everyone clapping along.
The finale - a sing-a-long to some favourites - was well received with union jack flags being waved in time to the music.
The afternoon, held last Wednesday, raised £637 for the charity.
The Beccles Friends would like to thank all those who made cakes for the afternoon, all those who helped on the day and everyone who supported the fundraiser.
The next event planned is an evening of country music with the Jeff Gallant Band at Beccles Public Hall on September 14. Tickets are £10 and can be booked by calling Rosie on 01502 716431.
