Large crowds and perfect weather combined to make this year's Beccles Hospital Fete a resounding success.
The popular annual event, organised by the Rotary Club of Beccles, returned to the town on Saturday, June 30.
Beccles mayor Elfrede Brambley-Crawshaw opened the fete with all funds raised being distributed between the League of Friends of Beccles Hospital and other medical charities.
The Sir John Leman School Jazz Band provided musical entertainment while dancers from the June Glennie School of Dance drew huge applause and received the prestigious ‘President’s Cup’ from Rotary president John Warburton.
A spokesman for the fete said: “Carnival Queen Christine Soanes and both her princesses graced the fete with their presence and also helped with a carnival stall and some of the draws.
“These included winner of the Beccles Cycle for Life prizes for sponsored riders.
“Brian Bennett won Lord Somerleyton’s hospitality prize for raising the most sponsorship and Sue Brooham of Lowestoft the second prize for the second-most raised.”
