A look back at Beccles’ hospital fete over the years

With the annual Beccles Hospital Fete returning tomorrow, we’ve had a little dig back through our archives to find photos of the event from years gone by.
Our oldest photo, showing archery at the fete in June 1966, is followed by another black and white image of youngsters playing a shooting game in 1977.
Jump forward 30 years, and performers from the June Glennie School of Dance can be seen Maypole dancing, and will be among the entertainment once again at tomorrow’s fete.
Held in the hospital grounds in St Mary’s Road from 2pm tomorrow, the fete will be opened by Beccles mayor Elfrede Brambley-Crawshaw, with entertainment also coming from the Sir John Leman jazz band, along with games, stalls, a bouncy castle and refreshments.
