Twenty-two older people took part in the Muncheon Mingle event held at Beccles Free School on July 4, where pupils from both the free school and Sir John Leman High School provided activities including bingo as well as music and drama performances.

The event was supported by Waveney District Council’s East Suffolk Communities Team.

Mary Rudd, Waveney’s cabinet member for community health and safety said: “This is the second Muncheon Mingle event held in Beccles and both have proven popular with local residents.

“Many of the older people who came to this event live alone; loneliness can have such a negative impact on people’s physical and mental wellbeing and so we hope these activities help people to feel more involved and connected.”
