A Beccles nursery which strives to provide a “magical” experience for children has had a fairytale start after being awarded a Good rating during its first Ofsted inspection.
Big Sky Nursery, in Station Road, opened in 2016 and cares for children aged between three months and five-year-old.
During an inspection in September, Ofsted found the provision offered at the nursery was good.
The report stated: “Children build secure attachments with staff, which helps them feel safe and secure in their environment.
“Staff are very responsive to children and accommodate their individual needs well. They help to prepare children well.”
It also praised the physical activities the nursery provides for the children and said: “Children enjoy spending time outdoors; they are busy and active in the fresh air.
“This helps to promote their good health and supports their physical well-being.”
The relationship staff cultivate between parents and carers was also commended by the inspector.
The report added: “Staff encourage children to share information about their children and inform them about their children’s progress.
“Parents have daily opportunities to view photographs and observations of their child as they play.”
Nursery manager Leanne Clarke explained how important the accolade was to the nursery’s hardworking staff and spoke of their enduring dedication.
She said: “We are delighted to have received a Good rating from Ofsted.
“It’s a great reward for all our staff who work so hard to ensure we provide the highest possible quality of childcare.
Ms Clarke added: “In the summer they gave up their weekends to transform our outside play area into something really special for the children and last week we put the finishing touches to our new sensory room full of lights and colour for them to enjoy.
“We’re constantly looking at ways to improve and add extra touches to make children’s experience here magical so we’re thrilled to get this endorsement from Ofsted.”
The report did point of areas of improvement which the nursery must work on to attain an Oustanding grade next time around.
To further improve provision the nursery must strengthen the monitoring of all children’s progress to further enhance planning and enhance the quality of staff’s interactions with children to help them develop high levels of concentration.
