This week on Community Corner we at Enjoy Beccles More are highlighting the work done by the Beccles Allotment and Gardens Association.

The association, which helps maintain and support allotments, their tenants and gardeners in Beccles, costs only £1 to join and £2 for a yearly subscription, and is open to all gardeners.

The committee acts as a mediator for the allotment tenants, helps maintain the allotments, and organises a regular shop for gardeners selling gardening and allotment equipment just above cost price, providing discounts for members on normal shop price.

Chairman Joan Cuppling said: “In the last few years we have done a few really good community projects. We have three allotments which are being used by community mental health groups, and we are doing a lot to get more women and children involved in allotmenting.”

Anyone who would like to become a member should call the association secretary, Pat Took, on 01502 713605.

If you want to have the spotlight shone on your group, email conor.matchett@archant.co.uk or post on the Enjoy Beccles More Facebook page!
