An exhibition of textile art inspired by the history of Beccles and surrounding villages is on display at the museum.

Threading Through Time is an exhibition by members of the Waveney Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild, which meets monthly in Beccles.

The exhibition opened at Beccles Museum last month and continues until July 15.

Local industries, which historically brought wealth to the town, from herring fishing and wheelwrights to printing and clock-making are all celebrated in fabric and thread. Images also range from ones inspired by the River Waveney to the Anglo Saxons.

Members have used a number of different embroidery techniques both traditional hand stitching and modern machine embroidery to create their work.

To complement the exhibition, a small display of embroideries from the museum collection is on show in the cabinet in the library.

The exhibition is available to view at the museum in Ballygate from Tuesday to Sundays from 1.45pm to 4.30pm. Admission is free.
