Archant

There was a terrific turnout of players, guests and spectators for the Captain’s Day at Beccles Golf Club.

The sound of raucous laughter, the happy faces of the well-fed visitors and the clinking of glasses across the bar were fitting tributes to a beautiful summer’s day.

On a scorching course surrounded by flora in full bloom, Nigel Jeffs continued his superb run of form with an unmatched 40 points in the stableford competition, closely followed by Craig Allen-Gill who produced impressive golf to finish runner-up.

Jeffs received the captain’s trophy and a TaylorMade stand bag as reward for his victory.

Meanwhile, in the ladies competition, Catherine Booker led the field with some fine golf to narrowly edge out Ann Brett. She came away with a delicious hamper for her exploits.

Once again the club was blessed with a full house on and off the course, with high quality play and hard luck stories in equal measure. Food and drink was generously provided by David and Sue Trunks.

Beccles Golf Club is currently running an ‘Open Championship’ special membership priced at £50 for immediate joiners. Visit the club’s Facebook page for forms and details.
