Archant

Beccles Golf Club hosted the Ken Allen Trophy in memory of the long-serving professional and previous president of the club.

Magnificent conditions greeted the field and everything was set for a perfect day’s golf on Saturday, May 26.

Nigel Jeffs played solid and effective golf from the outset and withstood a strong challenge from veteran Paul Cook to win narrowly - but deservedly - on countback.

Fittingly, current lifetime president and son-in-law of Ken Allen himself, Patrick Gill, came in third with the day’s lowest gross round and a fine net 66.

An honourable mention goes to captain David Trunks, who stormed into 4th from the back of the field with a fine comeback, showing grit and determination after a disastrous start.

Beccles Golf Club would like to thank sponsors and supporters M&H Plastics, RPC, Harleston Engineering, Clink’s Care Farm and Asset Angels.

Wednesday club nine-hole open competitions run throughout the summer for all ages and abilities between 4 and 6pm. All you need to do is turn up, pay £5 and play.
