At Beccles Golf Club, there was a magnificent turnout for the Pat Gill Trophy.

A wonderful banquet - generously provided by members of the Gill family - was arguably the highlight of a brilliant day for the club, with the bar also doing a fantastic trade courtesy of a highly generous free bar offer from President Pat Gill.

The trophy was won in terrific style by captain David Trunks, whose excellent 40 points was two clear of his nearest challenger.

Trunks scored consistently well throughout his strong round, including making good scores on the treacherous and long early holes which are so often the card-wreckers.

Multiple net birdies throughout his round meant that runner-up Christian Lever couldn’t get his hands on the trophy that much of his play deserved. His 38 points and fine play would have usually been enough for the silverware.

Lever finished ahead of the president himself after he produced a strong and dignified showing at his own event.

A wide array of prizes were also provided for guests, special achievements and the hotly-contested members competition - including golf bags, equipment and balls.

The president and captain thanked all the Gill family, who created a great event with a course full of golders and veranda packed with spectators.

The string of high-profile competitions continues today with the Captain’s Day.

New members, day guests, groups and clubs are encouraged to visit the Beccles Golf Club Facebook page for summer offers, special days and events.
