Captain David Trunks produced the goods to claim the Roger Harrod Cup at Beccles Golf Club.

An excellent see-sawing contest saw Trunks and runner-up Benjamin Turner play some fine golf in the same three ball, with the lead changing hands at regular intervals in the marvellous sunshine.

Despite a slow start on the tricky early holes, Trunks and Turner overcame the hot, hard and fast conditions to exchange a series of net birdies and eagles for some high-scoring holes.

There was no stopping Trunks, who used all his experience and mastery of reverse psychology to finish a single point clear and claim the trophy, as well as prizes provided by event sponsors Karpet & Furniture Kingdom.

Phil Rhodes continued his recent good form to secure third place.

The captain thanked Roger Harrod and club volunteers Del Collyer, David Wells and Craig Allen-Gill for their hard work to maintain the course.

Anyone interested in finding out more information about competitions or becoming a member should visit the club’s Facebook page, where there are downloadable joining forms.

Beccles Golf Club is set to host the Captain’s Cup tomorrow, July 14, with a tee off time of 8.20am.
